The 700 Club received invaluable support from construction industry charity CRASH to improve accommodation for some of Darlington’s most vulnerable people.
Working together, the former bed and breakfast known as The Lodge was converted into supported emergency accommodation for single men and women experiencing homelessness, including people with additional and complex needs.
The project created 12 bedrooms with their own en-suite facilities, providing greater privacy and dignity while helping the 700 Club offer a safer and more appropriate environment for those needing urgent accommodation and support.
The original CRASH story also looks back at the remarkable beginnings of the 700 Club, from a public appeal in 1994 asking 700 local people to contribute £50, through the creation of Hope House, to the charity’s subsequent expansion of homelessness services in Darlington.
